Benefits of Therapy Careers

There’s money in being a therapist, that’s for sure, particularly for those that specialize. However, looking for the best paying job isn’t the only way a job seeker should choose the place in which to spend his/her career. For instance, speech pathology positions are held in such a wide variety of situations that no two jobs are the same. They can be in a private setting, a classroom, a clinical setting, bedside or chairside. The clients can range in age from small children to adults needing care for swallowing, speech, and other assessments. Not to mention that benefits are frequently provided, like free health, life and medical insurance and retirement. Often prescription benefits are included as well. There’s a tax advantage plan that allows a therapist to receive as much as 15 percent over their regular take-home pay each month. Meals and incidentals are also covered on the tax advantage plan.
Benefits can Vary in Therapy Positions

Most places carry insurance for professional accountability for the entire setting, so the SLP would be covered, too. Medical malpractice, professional liability and worker’s compensation are staples that most therapists are provided.

For traveling SLPs, furnished housing is sometimes provided. Occasionally these positions are in great coastal towns or big cities, and with great pay a traveling SLP can take a series of part-time and semi-permanent positions and see the world.

A speech-language pathologist can easily snag positions at public and private schools, which are really the best. There’s a three month vacation after a nine month year with holidays and in-service days off, and all the aforementioned benefits.

What makes a job a good job can vary from person to person, but it’s lucky to have a satisfying profession that allows a flexible schedule and good pay.

Paying Back Financial Aid

You have finished college and reality hits you about the repayment of your student loans. Today many people are struggling to figure out how to pay for their student loans and some are even defaulting and struggling with their Payday One loans. Are there ways to get help if you are having problems repaying your student loan?

The U.S. Department of Education has a website that lists information about loan repayment, loan forgiveness, and defaulting on loans. If you have a Stafford loan you do have six months after graduation before repayment begins. During this time you can request a consolidation loan so you will only have one payment to make. When doing this you can chose from several types of payment plans that will vary on length and how much the payment amounts will be during certain periods of time.

If you are having problems it is important to work out any issues with the lender as there are major consequences for defaulting on a student loan debt. Just as if you were buying a house or a car your education loans can affect your credit. There are some fields that will pay off or pay a portion of your student loans for you. Education and the military are two such areas that are focused on helping students get through the nightmare of student loans.

If possible before taking out loans try to obtain scholarships or grants.  Even working and saving up money for tuition would be a good way to help finance your education. When you get out of college you should enjoy life, not be in constant stress due to the weight of financial aid bills. So take your time, do your research and prepare for the financial aspects of college.

Advantages Of Online Learning

Distance education

Online learning is one of the best methods to excel academically. The huge volume of resources that are available on the internet is one of the main reasons for this. Students are able to prepare for their exams, as well as for their regular classes, through the resources that are available on the internet.

The advantage of online learning is that it helps you save a lot of time. The teacher is able to upload the lessons and the student will be able to use the resources when she needs it. Each lesson and resource can be used by thousands of students all over the world. This is not possible through the conventional educational system. Remote learning is also possible, and even those who are in remote corners of the world are able to learn, through this method.

Online learning also makes it easy for the student, because part time education is possible. The student can learn when he is free from all other chores. Only the important resources are provided by the teachers and so the learning is much more focused. There is no waste of time learning the topics that are irrelevant.

There are a few drawbacks of online learning too. One of them is the fact that the student will not have a teacher monitoring her. This can cause the student to become distracted. The onus on learning is on the student, unlike the conventional learning system. So, online learning can backfire at times if the student is not motivated.

Online education opportunities are increasing as are the people who take advantage of them. Traditional and nontraditional students are discovering the benefits of an online education. Gone are the days of commuting to a college campus and following a schedule of classes. Online learning can actually reduce the expense of higher education.

FLEXIBILITY

Taking online courses offers students flexibility. Students only need to turn on their computer to attend classes. Students can take classes according to their schedule. This benefit of online courses is very attractive to a student who wants to work and go to school or has a family. Online courses can take place anywhere a student has Internet access. For example, if a family wants to take a vacation and a member of the family is taking online courses, that person only needs to take along a laptop to stay current on classes.

SAVING MONEY

One of the hidden secrets of online learning is that you can save money in ways you wouldn’t expect. Consider the costs of living in a dorm or commuting to and from campus. There are also expenditures while on campus such as eating at the cafeteria between classes. Online learning eliminates these expenses.

INCREASING OPPORTUNITIES

Online learning allows students to attend schools they never thought they could because they live so far away from the university. If you live in New York and want to attend a school in California, it is entirely possible to do so by taking courses online. The commute is not an issue.

Online courses are opening up great opportunities for students who wish to take advantage of them.

Going on a study abroad program during college is such a fun and exciting experience. However, if you’ve opted to study online, you may not have the “traditional” opportunity of a study aboard experience. No worries! When you are working on your online degree, you can study anywhere at anytime… including a foreign country. Read below for ideas on how to create your own study abroad program.

Travel

You can always travel to another destination. The good news about getting a bachelor degree online is that you don’t have to wait for a spot to open up in a program or worry about being accepted to a study abroad group. All you have to do is grab your laptop and book a plane ticket to anywhere in the world. You can still keep up with your classes, but have the freedom to explore a new land and culture.

Stay at Home

As a college student, the funds to travel might not be available right now. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still have your study abroad experience. You can research other countries you would like to visit from home. Make a list of places you want to explore, adventures you want to take, and countries you want to visit. Then, once you receive your degree, you can start to travel anywhere you want! A “faux” vacation can sometimes be just as exciting as an actual vacation.

Where will your studies take you? Are you ready for a study aboard program? Go ahead and create your own – this is your time!

The Benefits of Getting an Online Education

There are several benefits of getting an online education. First, online education makes it easier for housewives to pursue their education without the scheduling constraints inherent in an on-campus university education.

Wives often have to delay getting pregnant with their husbands because couples want to pursue their on-campus university education without the hassle of pregnancy. Online education makes it relatively easier for young couples to start their families earlier while maintaining flexible schedules to pursue an online education.

During the 1960s, large numbers of women started pursuing higher education after high school and this was one of the reasons that led to a sharp drop in birth rates among western women since the age of marriage and pregnancy shot up to the mid and late 20s instead of early 20s. This prevented many western couples from having a second, third or even a fifth child and enjoying a larger family.

The benefit of online education is that western couples now have the flexibility to have another kid while pursuing education at the same time. Well respected online schools offer a variety of degrees in sciences, engineering, humanities, arts and management make it possible for young couples to pursue their education and intellectual dreams alongside marital bliss.

Another benefit of getting an online education is that you have the potential to finish your education a lot faster depending upon how many courses you want to take each semester. You don’t have to worry about the commute to a physical campus or the long breaks between classes. Online education is more efficient and student-friendly.

Will OCW Change the World?

Not long ago, employers turned up their noses (and turned out applicants) whose curriculum vitae included courses completed online. Today, distance learning is an integral part of the overall delivery of course material found in universities across the globe. Students can attend lectures from the best schools in the country; online and for free. Online education is in a golden age of development and the offerings are exciting.

Academic Earth makes it possible for anyone to access lectures on everything from Abstract Art to Zoology. ITunes University also offers a wide range of lectures. Most major universities offer open courseware (OCW). OCW allows anyone, anywhere, to access the course material taught at the respective universities offering them. Although credit is not granted, students may master the material. Some learners assemble a self-acquired competency portfolio that they then submit to the university they have been formally admitted to.

Universities from around the globe have united in an effort to perfect the delivery of OCW and continue to work to make higher education available to all. At the pinnacle of these offerings, stands the University of the People, the U of People. Tuition is free, although there are fees for testing and other services. Financial burdens are minimal so that any person in the world can gain access to a higher education; a precious resource that was previously outside their grasp.

Largely self-taught, Abraham Lincoln rose to the Presidency of the United States of America. These new opportunities for education will have a profound effect upon the world and its future as more of the world’s population gains access to higher education.

Going to College in Chicago: What You Need to Know

Being a college student in Chicago is one of the coolest states of being ever recorded. Chicago’s a great city, and there’s always plenty of fun stuff to do around town. But there are some very important things to keep in mind.

For one thing, Chicago’s a modern city, which means the roads can be difficult to navigate. When it comes to Chicago apartments, you want one close to the train or on the bus line. The closer you are to mass transit, the easier it is to get to class, to work, or to the best drink special you can find. Those are all vitally important things to the proper expression of college life. But transportation isn’t everything. You also want to make sure you’re in a reasonably good neighborhood. When you don’t have a lot of local friends, being in a lower crime area is worth the extra costs. Being in an unfamiliar area kind of walks the line between being really exciting and seriously scary, so finding your way around is definitely going to be a priority when you first move in.

Take a few days and just walk around. In a city as big as Chicago is, you just never know what you’re going to find until it’s right in front of you. There is always some little hole in the wall that serves the best of something or sells the funkiest whatever, and when you take a date there he or she will be impressed with how well you know the area. You never have to tell them you just found the place last week. You’re going to have the best time.

Majors in High Demand

When you are trying to decide on what to major in it should be a combination of doing something you love and doing something you can be successful in the field. Yet, as times change so do the careers that are in the most demand.  There are some fields that will be in demand for a long time to come, such as IT, medicine, and education. Granted some of these fields pay much more than others but as long as there are people we will need medical care and someone to educate us.

Within these fields there are certain majors that stand out when choosing your path at college. Princeton Review offered its take on the top ten college majors and Business Administration and Management/Commerce topped the list. Our society is driven by business and commerce and as a result skilled management is like gold. Companies want the individual who can put them at the top of the market share in their industry. The catch is that many people go into this field therefore it is highly competitive. The other nine majors consist of psychology, nursing, biological sciences, education, English language and literature, economics, com

Should I Attend a Campus or Obtain an Online Education?

For some individuals going to a traditional campus is not feasible due to limited college schedules. For a person who has to work a traditional 40 hour a week day job many traditional campus class schedules do not work out very well. Some universities are starting to see that in order to attract students they must offer classes during the evening or online. As the economy makes it harder for individuals to live without a full time job, it makes it even more difficult to balance work, family and school.

While online courses do make it easier for a person who works full time and has an active schedule, there are things to consider about educating yourself from home. First, will you be able to fully commit to getting on your computer to absorb the knowledge when your favorite television show is on in the other room? There are a lot of distractions a person must compete with and it is important to know you will be able to overcome these distractions at home.  The other option is to find a local coffee shop to become your school room. Either way you will need to be able to focus on the work at hand. For individuals who are easily distracted it may benefit you to research the university schedules to figure out a way to be in the classroom. You will still have homework that will have the same issues regarding distractions, but often the traditional classroom can help the easily distracted become more focused.

Of course one of the main aspects of choosing a university is to determine that the school offers all of the courses that you will need to complete your education. A good and credible online school is earnmydegree.com, and you’d have countless or certifications, degrees and courses to choose from.

Also, ensure that whatever college you attend is an accredited university. When obtaining an education, you need to do the proper research to determine that the school meets the requirements of other universities.
